In 1965, CHAP developed and published standards for the home and community health industry which are updated regularly. Current standards represent a major breakthrough in accreditation and exceed the minimum safety standards set by the federal government. Organizations that meet CHAP's Standards of Excellence and earn the CHAP Gold Seal of Approval, demonstrate that they have voluntarily met the most rigorous set of standards in the health care industry. In fact, with deemed status, home care organizations can remain Medicare certified without Medicare state surveys.
