Selfhelp provides affordable housing for the elderly and offers a network of supportive services to help residents live independently.

Supportive services:
  • Counseling, help with family issues, and referral to community resources through on-site social workers
  • Homemaking and housekeeping (available at additional cost)
  • Nurses through Selfhelp’s Certified Home Health Agency
  • Doctors who are located nearby or on the premises
  • Pharmacy services and same day delivery through on-site Duane Reade kiosks
  • Buildings and nearby activity centers offer classes, concerts, nourishing meals, lectures, community trips, innovative wellness/fitness programs, and volunteer opportunities
  • Daily money management services provided by trained Selfhelp staff
  • Convenient shopping in the neighborhood and easy transportation options

Building features:

  • TV surveillance for entry from individual apartments
  • Handicapped adaptable campus with beautifully maintained and accessible gardens
  • Emergency pull cords in the apartments
  • Spacious community rooms and lobbies in which to socialize
  • Religious services in the Martin Lande House
Location and Eligibility
Applicants must be at least sixty two (62) years of age or older, and be able to live independently. There are waiting lists for each from one to eight years.
