![]() In late 2001, with the help of grants from an anonymous donor and from the Dollard Charitable Trust, Selfhelp initiated the Evelyn Frank Legal Resources Program to empower seniors to access vital entitlements and to protect themselves from unfair practices. The Program uses a unique interdisciplinary approach—the elderly client is principally assisted by one of Selfhelp’s 125 social workers working at diverse sites in four boroughs and Nassau County. The social worker teams up with the Evelyn Frank lawyer or legal assistant to do legal advocacy for the client. The Evelyn Frank Legal Resources Program also offers training programs to other social service organizations, which need information about Medicaid eligibility, Medicaid home care advocacy and other elderlaw issues.
