Senior Activity Centers

Selfhelp operates six senior centers that provide social, educational, and nutrition services to tenants of our residences and to an additional 8,000 senior citizens living in surrounding communities. Every Selfhelp senior center reflects its own community. For example, Selfhelp’s Austin Street, Clearview and Benjamin Rosenthal Centers provide hot Kosher meals, our Flushing centers offer classes in Asian arts, and centers that are home to a number of newcomers to our country offer English language classes and immigration services. For seniors who have special needs, the Maspeth, Clearview, and Flushing Centers offer the Selfhelp Alzheimer’s Resource Program (SHARP) and our centers can encourage frailer seniors to attend by providing them with the help and friendship of a Senior Partner. Membership in one of our senior centers is membership in the Selfhelp family, and we are proud of the diversity our family represents.
