The primary service for most of our clients is enhanced case management, an individualized process especially designed for Holocaust survivors. Based on the concept of a seamless service network, this model combines traditional case management with a client-specific service spectrum that includes home visits, counseling, assistance with benefits and entitlements, home care services, and financial management. Because it has become increasingly evident that isolation is a major issue as Holocaust survivors age, we have designed social programming that brings them together in an atmosphere they find comfortable. One of our most popular services for Nazi victims is the Coffee House program that facilitates socializing in a supportive environment. Visiting with old friends and meeting new ones, sharing memories, enjoying tasty desserts, and listening to familiar music all do a great deal to make life happier. Other special events include Chanukah parties, Passover seders, and discussion groups.

As we move further into the 21st century, we anticipate an increasing need for services. During the next few years, many Holocaust survivors who have not previously sought our help will come forward as they reach their 80s and 90s and find they need assistance. As always, Selfhelp will be there for them—to listen sensitively and react spontaneously.
