Why volunteer? Volunteering is a great way to get out of the house, meet new people and explore new things. Being an active participant in community service can make a difference and change lives.

Here are just a few of the ways you can help:

  • Exercise, art and crafts instruction
  • Teach ESL, and language classes
  • Making calls to homebound members
  • Trip leaders
  • Party & event helpers
  • New member welcome and orientation
  • Errands and friendly visits
  • Language translator
  • Clerical support
  • Serving meals to the disabled
  • Delivery of meals-on-heels
  • Kitchen-help

To volunteer in one of Selfhelp's Housing buildings or Senior Centers please contact Phyllis Tobin by phone at 718-939-6210, or to volunteer with our Nazi Victim Services Program contact Beth Zeidel by phone at 212-971-7763.

Thank you to the over 1,000 individuals who devote their time each year and whose work on behalf of seniors continues to assist Selfhelp!
