Volunteer

Volunteering is a proud Selfhelp tradition.

From our earliest days, volunteers have been an integral part of the Selfhelp community. Today, over 1,000 volunteers devote time and effort on behalf of seniors in our residences, senior centers and Nazi Victims Services Program. You can, too. There are many ways you can help.

  • Exercise instruction
  • Arts and crafts instruction
  • Teach ESL and other language classes
  • Call and chat with those who are homebound
  • Visit the elderly, hear their stories and tell them yours
  • Organize and lead trips
  • Help at senior center parties and other events
  • Welcome and orient new selfhelp community members
  • Do local errands for those who cannot get out
  • Translate – Spanish, German, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Hebrew
  • Help in our housing and senior center kitchens
  • Serve meals to the disabled

Join us! As an active participant in community service, you can make a difference and change lives. Contact us at volunteer@selfhelp.net.

Thank you to all our wonderful, dedicated volunteers!
